Quick Shout Tip #9: Ask for the draft IEP before the meeting. Most schools will send it if you ask. A short email to your child’s case manager works: “Could you send me the draft IEP a few days before our meeting so I can review it?” This is a simple way to advocate for your child before the IEP.
Reading it ahead of time means you can highlight, look things up, and come in with your questions ready instead of processing everything on the spot. 📝
